Who even *are* you?
Spindle is a Bristol-based online music promotion site that aims to be a means for artists to sell and promote their art in the easiest and most manageable way possible.
How does it work?
Spindle is in its early stages. I'm not 100% sure on how it will evolve, but the initial goal is to be a resource for the music community; help artists and bands to grow and navigate the industry and provide whatever expertise I can to improve the gig-going experience for everyone.
Merch
We can get artists setup for selling t-shirts as a print-on-demand service. That means:
- Register as an artist on Spindle
- Head to the Artwork Submission form and submit your designs
- I'll get you setup on Spindle and send an invite to share your merch profits using a service called CollabPay
- Once you're setup successfully, profits will be paid to you monthly
Costs and Profits
Currently Spindle hosts the following products. 'Manufacturing costs' are effectively what it costs to produce the sale item and ship it domestically in the UK. Spindle does not currently take a share of artist profits for on-demand products. As the product range expands, there may be a small share of the profit taken by Spindle - but at this point, the money Spindle needs in order to operate is made from our own products, and products we commission from others separately.
| Manufacturing cost |
Spindle makes | Artist makes | RRP | |
| T-shirt | £10.93 | £0 | £14.07 | £25 |
Can't I just setup a store myself?
Sure, if that works for you. Go for it! We love to know that artists are making use of whatever means to gain revenue.
However, getting setup on Spindle is free. There's no additional cost you'd have to pay to have merch available on Spindle and I'll do what we can to promote your merch alongside you, ensure you're discoverable with similar artists on our platform and work with you to create interesting new lines of merch.
Can I still order stock from Spindle for gigs?
Yes! Once you're registered as an artist you can login and use our artist order form to order merch in bulk ahead of your event. Spindle does not take any cut of the sale of physical merch, and as such doesn't take a cut of any artist orders.
